Open Until Filled Job Description The Marketing & Special Events Administrator reports to the Public Works Director.
Will be responsible for assisting the Director, Deputy Director and Assistant Director of Public Works in the promotion of new and existing programs, facilities and special events.
This position is responsible for conducting the necessary market research and analysis, as well as demographic analysis of the Department's users and the general population.
The applicant will assist in the planning and execution of Departmental events as well as those events the Department is associated with.
Job Responsibilities 1.
Performs duties at Public Works Administration Office or at various City locations and events.
2.
Develops, implements and evaluates marketing plans for the Department's programs, facilities, and special events.
3.
Conducts demographic analysis of behavior/culture and determines additional market segments available to the Department.
4.
Conducts user satisfaction surveys and provides reports to the Director of Public Works and City Management.
5.
Assesses how current and future programs compare with, and support, the Department's mission statement.
6.
Conducts needs assessment of both current users and the general public to determine education, marketing and leisure desires and trends.
7.
Conducts evaluations of other provider's services, fees and success, and compares them to the Department's offerings to determine service gaps.
8.
Involved in the planning, developing, coordinating and implementing of McAllen Shines, including but not limited the City Departments, City Boards, Civic Organizations, Chamber of Commerce and Business Community.
9.
Solicits funds, sponsors, and partnerships with City Boards and Departments for activities, programs and special events through grants and various outside funding sources.
10.
Coordinates with City departments, City Boards and outside organizations to support the City's McAllen Shines sponsored events, ie.
Fourth of July, McAllen Marathon, Christmas in the Park, Holiday Parade, etc .
11.
In times of emergencies (hurricane, flood, etc.
) employee assists in coordinating and operating shelter facilities under the direction of Public Works Director.
12.
Makes rapid decisions; working with short deadlines, adversity requiring sound judgment, and emotional stability.
Often, scheduled work becomes unstructured, requiring ability to be flexible to handle diverse conditions.
13.
Attends meetings, conferences and workshops to keep abreast of trends and technology in the field.
14.
Coordinates and oversees the successful completion of City wide event support requests.
15.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Minimum Requirements 1.
Position requires a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, in Marketing, Advertising or related field.
2.
Position requires two (2) years of experience in marketing and event planning.
3.
Position requires a current, valid Texas Class C driver's license.
4.
Must be able to communicate effectively in English and Spanish at all levels, both orally and in writing.
5.
Must be able to meet deadlines and the city department goals and objectives.
6.
Must be able to greet and assist internal and external customers in a courteous and diplomatic manner.
7.
Must be able to prepare reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
8.
Must be customer-service oriented, have a customer friendly attitude and professional appearance at all times.
9.
Must be capable of working in a fast-paced environment.
10.
Must be able to effectively manage and supervise staff.
11.
Must be able to effectively present information and respond to questions from the general public and management.
Physical Requirements 1.
Employee works indoors in normal office settings and outdoors exposed to changes in weather conditions.
2.
Job generally requires regularly lifting and or moving of items up to 10 pounds, frequently lifting and or moving items up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lifting or moving of items up to 50 pounds, as well as sitting, standing, walking, driving, bending, and climbing.
Additional Information 1.
This is a safety sensitive position subject to random drug and alcohol testing.
2.
Will be supervising one (1) to four (4) employees.
3.
Work schedule includes some unusual working hours, irregular hours or shifts, as evenings, weekends, holidays, and during hurricane or other emergency response situations.
4.
May involve occasional travel.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
