Licensed Specialist in School Psychology

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

To enhance the knowledge and skills of district staff as they implement a student-learning framework that will focus on rigorous instruction, emotional intelligence and competitive job skills for students with disabilities; to provide expertise in assessment and programming for children and youth with serious behavioral disorders; to promote a positive working relationship, among and between staff and the schools, by establishing a climate conducive to open communication and productive work.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

Bachelor Degree in Psychology or related field, required
Master Degree in School Psychology, required
Licensed Specialist in School Psychology as required by the Texas State Board Examiners, required
Special Knowledge/Skills:

Communicate effectively (verbal and written); understand needs of and programs for students with disabilities; utilize interpersonal skills; plan, organize and coordinate districtwide services, able to administer and interpret assessments in English/Spanish, preferred

Experience:

Minimum of two (2) years of supervised professional experience in a school setting after degree, required
Three (3) years teaching experience, preferred

Note:
Starting pay for a new hire in a pay range plan will be determined individually based on each person's job-related experience and salaries paid to peer employees in the same position with similar experience.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES/
Essential Functions:

1. Interprets evaluation results to school personnel, parents and outside agencies, as appropriate.
2. Demonstrates knowledge of RTI process, analyze/review student folders for possible special education evaluation.
3. Includes academic, functional, and behavioral based recommendations in evaluation reports.
4. Complies with local and deferral mandated timelines for all evaluations and Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee meetings.
5. Assists in the dissemination of local, state and federal regulations with regards to special education guidelines.
6. Assist in providing training/support for online ARD managing program.
7. Displays knowledge of Procedural Safeguards and Admission Review, and Dismissal Guide.
8. Provides direct psychological supports and maintains records of supports.
9. Serves as a liaison for the special education department by interpreting, recommending, and organizing services needed for the student.
10. Maintains and submits completed PEIMS data according to district timeline.
11. Conducts full and individual evaluations as well as psychological evaluations.
12. Provides support and/or recommendations related to behavior.
13. Demonstrates personal and professional growth by attending in-service meetings, workshops, and conferences.
14. Disseminates ideas and information to other professionals and the community through written materials, by conducting in-services, and through contact with outside agencies.
15. Effectively participates in ARD meetings, parent conferences, transition meetings, and other related meetings.
16. Assists school personnel and parents in planning and implementing the Individual Education Plan.
17. Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.
18. Perform other duties assigned by immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
